Arthur’s Seat: Climb Before it is Too Late
Every university holds its traditions, no matter how ridiculous it gets. According to one of our university traditions, the undergraduates will receive good grades when they manage to climb up Arthur’s seat during their first year. Regardless of this superstitious belief, however, climbing this splendid landmark is worth your visit – when considering its scenery from the peak.
The panorama-like scenery of Edinburgh’s old town will welcome the ones who endured the half-hour long hiking. EKSS journal hereby strongly recommends to have an actual visit to the hill.

Last but not least, some tips to share and spare in case you gear up to visit Arthur’s Seat:
- Slow-walk is recommended as some of its trails can sometimes be extraordinarily slippery.
- When you plan to see the sunrise, better be properly armed up with winter coat and toque – unless you want to be DiCaprio in the Revenant.
- Do not overestimate your ability on directions. Trust the Google map as every trail may look alike each other.
- White trainers are generally not recommended due to muddy trails.
